Going Esty!! My New Shop and Lace Pillows!

It's Official.  I pushed the button!  I opened my own Etsy Store!! Why couldn't I just do it sooner?  I was scared that's why!  I had no clue what I would find, how I would start, but here it is.  I finally did it!  Why was I so nervous?  Really, it was the shipping...it scares me!  BUT, I went to the post office, and after talking with them as well as the local shipping store, I think I have a handle on it!
So, here are the first pillows I have made.  One you have already seen.
But the others were made the last few weeks.
I love lace, I love old, I love rhinestones, I love buttons...so why not combine it all make something pretty!!

The roses are hand made by me, crocheted during the evenings while I watch television with my husband!  I have to have something to do in my hands, so lately I've been busy with these!

You can visit my store here:
I hope you like them!
Blessings, Doni

Putting it in Perspective...Thanks to God!

Oh So Thankful to God

Thankful to God for a roof over our heads, a place to lay my head to sleep with no worries or fears, a home to call my own, a meal to eat when I'm hungry.

In some countries this place would seem a mansion.  It has a door and a metal roof.  Are you thankful for what God has provided for you?  Let's put it in perspective.  We are rich beyond measure and all from the Hand of Almighty God.  Without Him we are nothing.
I thank God for His gifts to me!
James 1:17
Blessings to you,

Pearls and Lace Thursday # 28

The Old Black Camera.
Bodies were held still as the cameraman (woman?) got the camera ready for the photo.  Probably just one shot.  More than one would cost too much.  No room for error, the poser stood perfectly still trying to keep their eyes open and ready for the huge flash that they knew was coming.
The picture had to be perfect.  If it wasn't, it would just have to do.
Could this picture be the one that he would send to that Mail Order Bride and would she approve?
Could that shot be the one that she would send to the possible suitor and would he like her looks?

Is the dress hanging just right?  Is the suit creased perfectly?  Do the earrings show and does the lace look right?  Did the hat need to be held in the right hand or the left???  Did I remember to shine my shoes??

Is he a gold digger or a preacher?  Did his mother receive the picture or did his girl?

Oh the stories that those photographers could tell!  Each one had a dozen new stories to add to the others each day.  They just hoped that no one would come in with their horse or chickens for the next shot.  That was hard to clean up after!

The different hues of black seem to be a huge part of our past heritage.  Pictures are now in color, our Bibles come in different colors now, and our instant society now emails a color picture to someone continents away in a flash.  Even the cameras now come in colors other than black.
But somehow, that old black cameras and pictures evoke a sense of history, of nostalgia, and a one-ness with those who no longer are with us.  Who were they?  I will not know that here.  But I know Who does!
One day, all those color pictures I took and printed will be handed down to another generation.  They will look at them and say, oh look, an old-fashioned photo.  I wonder if it's worth anything on Ebay?
And they won't know or care who it is.
That doesn't bother me.  God knows me.  Does He know You?
He knows us each by name, He made us, He knows our future.
Aren't you glad He does?

Rock of Ages, Wall of Faith, and Thank you!

Rock of Ages, Cleft For Me, Let Me Hide Myself in Thee

We just started our Revival at our church today, and one of the special songs sung was Rock of Ages!
What could be more perfect today than to share with you the picture I won from Tales from an OC Cottage!!
Thank you so much for such a wonderful win!  It's perfect.
After a bit of TLC it now hangs in a perfect spot on our Wall of Faith!
My husband being a Pastor thought that it was perfect!

The song plays through my head many times during the day.  What could be better than that?
Is He your cleft from the storms of life?
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Blessings to you, Doni

Pearls and Lace Thursday #27 and Giveaway Winner!

Who Won?  Who Won?  Who Won?
The Chickadees are asking the question, Who Won?
Well, that will have to be answered after we have our Pearls and Lace Thursday!!
(unless you cheat and skip it!!)

This last month's shopping at sales and fleas seems to me to be a Bonanza of Yellow Roses and yellow trims!!  From thread to brooches, to figurines to pictures and jars, everything seems to be yellow and with roses!  The picture below is my very favorite find.  Yellow Roses!  And of course since I was born, raised, lived here in Texas and will hopefully die in Texas, the Yellow Rose is PERFECT for me!

The sweet jar below is hand painted with of course, yellow roses!
Even the GLOVES were yellow!!!

Yellow roses painted on a small dresser tray and yellow vintage trims, even the brooches went along with the theme.  It's been a lovely few weeks of sales, but now the cold northern winds and rains have started and I'm afraid the garage sales will be put off for warmer weather.  What do y'all do for the winter if you can't go shopping sales???  I'm hoping to locate some indoor thrift stores around here!!

Well, here's what y'all were all waiting for....the winner of my 100th Post Giveaway.
So many of you left such precious comments, and some of you even joined me for Pearls and Lace Thursdays!! I've really enjoyed visiting each of your blogs (for those of you who have one), and getting to know you a bit better. For all of you to know, I visited every link of every sidebar, made sure that all were correct, and checked every comment for verification. I printed each comment out, each entry for Pearls and Lace Thursdays, and sidebars and posts. SO wonderful of each of you who participated!
Thanks to you all for making this an extremely fun Giveaway.

I printed out 8 columns of numbers, One for each entry.  Total entries after tallied were 165

Cut the 8 columns into strips intending to attach them as collars around 8 puppies necks, but my husband asked me to only let one of the babies be part of the giveaway choosing....too much room for accidents otherwise!!
So, let me introduce you to Spencer!

Spencer, would you please pick ONE of the plates with a strip of paper on it??
He looked and sniffed, then looked some more.

And finally, after deciding between these two plates,

chose THIS one!!

Great job Spencer!  Thanks for your help, and thanks for not having an accident while we got these pictures!
OK, now for step 2 of the Giveaway choosing.

I got all of my entries numbered already, so now my strip of paper with the numbers to be chosen need to be cut up so they can go into my Coffee Pot!

each was folded and put in the pot.

Can you believe that the first time I poured, only ONE piece of paper actually came out into the cup!?

Drumroll please!

Number 77 matched up with Tracy Suzanne from Cotton Pickin Cute!  Congratulations Tracy!
(I've already contacted her via email and received a sweet email back from her!)
Please give Tracy a visit at her blog here

Thank you all for joining me for my Giveaway!  I look forward to doing this again soon!!
Now, don't forget to join me for Pearls and Lace Thursday!!!  Link up your POST below with the Linky tool.
