Pearls and Lace Thursday #25 and 100th Post Giveaway Info!!

I'm Having a Giveaway!!! Be sure and check it out Here!

I'm also linking up for a Pink Saturday Party!! Be sure and check it out at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ and see all the beautiful Pink Posts!!
Beverly does a wonderful job at hosting this party each week.  Come on by and join in the party!!
And now for the Beautiful Garage Sale Finds!!

There's something about the old and unique that just captures my interest.  I don't know whether it's the shape, color, texture, or object, but if it's old and it's different from the ordinary, I like it!
I recently found 2 bird items...one a glass piece with what looks like molten glass for a base with 2 sweet birdies facing each other on top.  It's a very pretty piece and I've never seen one like it before.

The other bird I recently found is the cast iron birdie.  She was evidently sitting on a cast iron something else but has been separated from it somehow.  She's a bit rusty and old looking, but charming in her own way!

The jeweled cross piece is also a recent find.  I'm so glad that I found it!  It's so pretty sitting in the small pink glass bowl that I found, perhaps it just needs to stay there!

What could be prettier than flowers, all kinds of pretty colors, and a nice sized dish?  Well all of them put together to make a pretty bowl!

The hand made tatted edging is a real find!  It was included in a baggy full of odds and ends, some good, some not so good.  This was wound around a piece of cardboard and was just waiting for me to find it!  I think my eyes just gravitate toward the sewing things and jeweled things first!  Of course the china pieces grab my attention as well!  Do you ever get that feeling when you go someplace of not being able to see?  I mean, I look at something, but don't quite take it all in, then look again later and see things right next to it that I missed the first time!  Why is it I get so excited that I practically have tunnel vision!!??

Going along with the bird theme, the verse below from Matthew is one that my husband has recently preached on.  When I think of the birds of the air, I think of these verses:

The gorgeous pink rock that I saw at a sale a few weeks ago....I was thrilled with this!!! PINK!!! It will look very nice alongside the pink rocks I've found previously, don't you think??

All along the roads I travel, I wonder who made the laces, who loved the dishes, who held the items or loved them before I came along and found them.  Do you ever wonder about your finds?  Wonder what their story is?  I really wondered about the Irish Lace tablecloth or bedspread starter that I found last weekend.  An elderly man and his mid-40's son were having a yard sale.  I think a dear lady must have spent many hours making things of beauty to have in her home.  Now it's a forgotten relic of a bygone day, but precious to me who will cherish it for the art form it is.

Sometimes things happen while I'm out hunting for the Mother of all Finds.  Like this:
Somewhere out there is a lady who got all kinds of awesome finds at a sale I was at...it was at a huge old warehouse and there sitting out in front, next to the table where you pay, was a pile of lovelies!  A vintage dress form for only 25 dollars!! Already taken, a box lid full of vintage crochet thread!  Already taken.  Another box lid full of vintage aged perfectly tags!  Already taken.  Frames, frames, frames.....oh you know who you are!!! I waited to find you for a few minutes to see if I could purchase some of these finds from you before you even got to your car!!!!  Never found you!
Do you follow my blog??? Are you out there???  Contact me!! I want some of your lovelies!!!
Maybe when I grow up and become an expert 'Finder', I'll have a pile of lovelies to get for dirt cheap!!
But at least I found the old wooden spools before you did!  I love those things!  Anyhow, I love your finds and hope you have a great time with them!

Now, it's Pearls and Lace Thursday and we want to see YOUR lovelies!  Do you have some finds that you want to share with us?  Link your url to the Linky below (please just the url of your post, not an etsy shop or your blog's url), and join me for my 25th Pearls and Lace Thursday!!!
Don't forget....one more week until the big giveaway!!!  Be sure and check out the Giveaway Post here!!

Blessings to you all for a lovely week!!

I love going into thrift or 5 and dime stores and finding hauls like this one. As I work with the items I often romatically think about what the previous owner must have done with her share of the goods. I love the clear birds... beautiful find. Hugs. tammy

Hi Doni...

Ohhh my...such beautiful treasure finds, my friend! I'm with you...I love things that are unusual, vintage...etc. I can't help but think of all the stories these pieces could tell if they could talk! Anyway, I just adore your glass birds...of course, I love all sweet birds...so this pretty really just made my heart go pitter-patter! And...all that gorgeous handcrafted tatting...simply breathtaking! I really enjoyed your post, my friend! And the special verse in Matthew! Thanks for sharing all of your pretties with us!

Warmest autumn wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design

Such beautiful things. My heart goes pitter-patt when I see beautiful crochet pieces. I love the white crochet piece with the pink petals. Is there a story behind that piece? It is so pretty and imagine the time and love that went into creating it. The tatted lace is so lovely.
I know just how you feel about someone finding all those beautiful things...if I know they are going to love and display them, I am happy for them, but if they just want to re-sell them for money, it kind of rubs me the wrong way...but finders/keepers I guess. I often wonder about the history behind some of my vintage lovelies. I wonder about the secretary, a desire of my heart, that I got for my 50th b-day. I wonder what it stored and if they loved it as much as I do. Love your posts, such beautiful pictres. God Bless!

I so enjoyed your post, Doni! That bird sure is sweet. And all that tatted edging... lovely!
I have had a couple of similar experiences to what you described when I have been to yard or estate sales. You just know you are surrounded by a big bunch of dealers just looking to score so they can make a buck. I feel so out of place as I am only there in hopes of finding something sweet to add to my collections or maybe a gift or two for a friend. I guess it just goes with the territory :-(
I want you to know how much I am loving your blog! Your giveaway is fabulous to be sure, but I am really enjoying looking through your older posts as well. I loved playing along with your Pearls and Lace Thursday party last night (thanks for the added entries!) and am already looking froward to next Thursday and what you will have to share, as well as thinking about what I will share with you, too!
Well, the weekend is nearly here and I wish you a blessed one!
