Demi Tasse set #3

The SQUARE set!
Yes, it looks lovely but how on earth do you drink out of that??? I think I'd probably break a tooth!
BUT, it's so cute, so I'll just have to try!  If I post a picture of myself with some teeth missing you must all feel sorry for me by doing the same.
Just kidding.  I won't make you drink out of a square teacup, just knock out a tooth!

Hoffard, Fine China.  It's so sweet! I love it as part of the collection, and hopefully will be adding to this collection soon.  I think I've found a new love...Demi Tasse sized teacups!
I'm joining in the fun at all the parties below.  Please join us!  Any thing associated with Tea works!

And please accept this invitation to join me here on Thursdays for Pearls and Lace Thursday! We all love bling and pearls are a must have, so show us your pretties!
Be Blessed!

Old, Crusty, Vintage Bottles

The whole town came our for the Fair.  Buggies were pulled by foamy horses, sweat soaked bodies were everywhere.  People were milling around the animals, men talking and spittin'.  Women in their long dresses were shooing children away from their sides while they fanned their hot faces.
As the townspeople gathered for a grand day of sack races, horse races and leg races, wily old men snuck in unawares to sell their potions and lotions.
With a cantakerous yell at the local children hububbing around his wagon, he raises his arms and starts shouting:  "Step up here ladies and gentlemen and listen to me while I tell you about the finest stomach medicine the world has ever seen!"  He waits while the ladies step forward, some assisted by their husbands.  Men folk of all ages young to old saunter over to the old man and try to hear what he says without seeming to be interested.  Many of them are looking at the crowd forming to see which ladies are alone, and possibly eligible for later 'howdy's'.
"I have here a bottle of the best medicine that has ever been produced to help you get rid of the stomach gall!"  The little old man smiles big and holds up his finest most beautiful bottle of "Swamp Root".
"Yes gentlemen, this elixer is guaranteed to make the stomach settle with just one swig!"
Proudly, the little man lifts the bottle with both hands to show it off to its best advantage in the sunlight.
"Ladies, just one spoonful of this special medicine will cure any upset stomach, take away any headache, and make your body strong and healthy.  Formulated my Dr. Kilmer himself to be just what the Doctor ordered".

The crowd presses in closer to see the bottles lined up in front of the old man.  One old geezer in the audience steps up closer and says, "How do we know it really works?"
"Well", says the old man, "I've tried it!  I've used it for what ailed me and I'm an example here standin' in front of you all that can swear, excuse me ladies, promise as to the medicinal benefits of this fine elixir."
The sweat starts to form under his brown felt hat, and his whiskers start to itch.
He knows it's just a matter of moments before the first taker will step up.

"This wonderful medicine can be yours for just a small price.  Just think ladies and gentlemen, a bottle of the world's finest medicine at your own fingertips day and night for when your family needs it.  No more calls to the Doctor in the middle of the night.  No more saddling the horse in the dark.  Just one bottle of this on the shelf and you can be instantly healed!"
The old man backs up a smidge from the edge of the crowd and waits...just a moment later a voice from the side of the crowd says, "Well, I guess I'd like to have me here one of them thar bottles of that med'cine.  How much it cost??"

The crowd starts to press closer and bottles start selling.  The old man is grinning from ear to ear, telling just the exact doses for each ailment.  The crowd slowly starts to clear and the bottles left in front of the old man dwindle.  Just a few more and he can be off to another town, another fair, another dollar in coins to put in his pocket.  But between towns, the little old man has to make up some more 'medicine'.

I love making up silly stories like that when I see old fun stuff!!  Hope y'all enjoyed it.  I hope you also enjoy the pictures of the actual best-selling bottle of literal 'Swamp Root' I have on hand here!  It could be for sale soon....you just never know!!!!
Have a blessed week and please come by on Thursday and join me for Pearls and Lace Thursday!

Pearls and Lace Thursday #19

The softness of pearls just adds a certain lustre and delight to a vignette.  I seem to always be reaching for a strand to add to my photos.  And they're elegant enough to stand on their own.

Lace is so beautiful in its own right.  I'm in awe of all the different types of lace that have been made over the centuries.  Women and men all over the world using delicate threads to weave works of art.

Whether you love pearls or you love lace, please come and join in the party for Pearls and Lace Thursday.  Show off your pearls, show off your lace, show off the things that make you happy!
Add your post's url to the linky below, and please tell others about the party!

Demi Tasse set #2

Some day...it will be quite a few days into the future, I will be a grandmother of a little girl or two who might want to join me for a Tea Party!  Nothing 'brewing' as of yet, but we've got lots of time.
In the mean time, I'm collecting sets of cups and saucers in the 'Demi Tasse' or small cup size for that happy day!!  I hope I have granddaughters...with 2 sons and 3 nephews, I just don't know!!

The Pink Demitasse has just a hint of pink on the outside...it looks like it could be a reflection from the pink doily beneath it it's so light...
It has some beautiful flowers inside, just where you can enjoy them while drinking your cup of hot tea (or as I prefer coffee, perhaps a nice hot cup of coffe on a cold morning!).

The pink is so delicate that you can't even tell it's there in this picture, but it is! A very very light pink on the outside rim of this saucer.  So delicate and pretty!

The markings on the bottom reads: Old Ivory, Syracuse China
OPCO made in America
I think the handle looks like a bat wing!
The gold gilt around the edges and on the handle are thick and perfectly painted.
I think I'll rank this one as one of my favorites!  Oh my, now I have a LOT of favorites!
And more to go next week!!!

I'm joining up with these wonderful Tea Parties this week.  Please go by and visit each one and check out all the beautiful blogs that are joining in the parties.

Pearls and Lace Thursday #18

Hand Painted Violets and I need your help naming the 3rd one! Is it apple blossom? Amy...what do you think?  Primrose??  Whatever it is, I love it!
Hand Painted items are my faves to collect.  What's yours??

Now just because I love Hand Painted items doesn't mean I don't love others too.  There are many facets to my collections, but at the the moment this one is high on my list.
Purple is one of my favorite colors therefore I guess my collections seem to have lots of purples.  Do we have a Purple Party yet?  I'd sure love to join one if anyone knows of one!!
Please join me here for Pearls and Lace Thursday.  We have had some lovely blog posts in the past and I hope you will all join in with your own.  Thanks to all the participants!!
Looking forward to seeing your lovelies!!!

Dried White Hydrangeas

There's just something about dried flowers.  I don't know if it's the knowledge that it was once a vibrant living thing of great beauty, or the delicate-ness of the fragile blossoms, but they are beautiful, whether in vases and baskets, or flattened and framed.
These dried hydrangeas are from my next door neighbor's bushes.
They are still standing dried on the side of the house, safely kept from wind and rain.

A sepia arrangement without the use of the sepia help button!
I'm joining with all the lovely White Wednesday participants at Faded Charm
Be sure and visit all the partygoers and join in yourself.  It's a beautiful day!

And don't forget Tomorrow!!!

Please be sure and join me for Pearls and Lace Thursday!  I have a collection of hand painted brooches with violets that I'll be sharing with you!!  I'll have Mr. Linky up and ready this evening!!

Demi Tasse Tea Finds!

Tiny Teacups and Saucers, pictured on a vintage pink doily that was just perfect for displaying them.
I have seven sets now that I can share with you all!
The first set is from Japan and has hand painted flowers which are many colors.
It has the distinction of being the tiniest one of the whole collection.

The bottom of the cup says "Occupied Japan".  My picture of it was all blurry so I didn't post it.
I will share the rest of the cups in the weeks to come!
I'm joining all the Tea Parties below for a special Tuesday of Teatime Fun!!!
Be sure and follow the links and look and see the beauty shared by some awesome ladies!
Thank you to all the sweet hostesses for all of their time and effort!!
Blessings!!

More Cooling Blues Around the House

I just must thank Laura from Ontario (her blog is Laura's Rose Garden) for sending us here in Texas her cooling weather!!! It has been only in the 90's this last week and we even saw some lows reach down to the 60's!!! WOOOHOOO! (can't you picture me running around outside waving my cowboy hat and smackin' the horse?) (Actually, it's a whole lot more likely you'd see me waddle around and smack a mosquito!!)
We've really enjoyed the 'cool spell' and look forward even more to Fall!!
I was hoping to have a lovely table all set with my newest white china that I bought off of ebay, but after a whole month of waiting, IT"S STILL NOT HERE!!!
Yes, I called, I nicely pestered, and she had all types of reasons as to why my china has not arrived, but as long I remain nice and she does to, well I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

I can't wait to see what it will look like put together.  I am not the type to set the table for dinner, but I love love love what I see on so many of your blogs.  Tables set with gorgeous china, flatware, glassware, real flowers, lovely centerpieces, etc.  Maybe I will take some lessons from y'all and see where it takes me!!
Hope you are all having cool breezes and may you have a lovely week!
Be sure and check out Pearls and Lace Thursday #17 here and see my beautiful hand painted bowl I recently acquired.  It's worth the click!!!
Join me here on Thursday as well for Pearls and Lace Thursday!!!
Blessings!!

Pearls and Lace Thursday #17

I've died and gone to Heaven, and the Table was set with THIS!!

Actually, it will be BETTER than this when we get to Heaven!!!  But here on earth, this is the closest I've ever even DREAMED of!!!
Hand Painted Lovliness, done by a lady who used to write for a hand painted china magazine in the early 1900's.  She was very possibly one of the best china painters of her time.

It's my turn to take care of it now, and I'd like to share its beauty with you.

No, not a Limoges piece, but does it REALLY matter???
Not to me!!!
Please join me this week for Pearls and Lace Thursday and show off something lovely from your collection.  Whether it be a piece of lace, a piece of jewelry, or anything lovely, we'd love to see it!!
Add your post's URL code to the Linky box below, and share about the party by taking the button located on the right side of the blog.
May you all be blessed with beauty!!
