Pearls and Lace Thursday #112 Drawer Number Two

For those of you who are wondering, I'm sharing some of my Laces with you that I've collected over the past years.  I have them carefully rolled and stored in some vintage sewing boxes which I posted about previously (just scroll down!), and this week I will be showing detailed pictures of the second of three drawers of laces.  I hope you enjoy them!

The old newspaper pieces were tucked inside an old hymnal that I got from this area of Texas.  The Sulphur Springs newspaper had some interesting prices for items back in 1959
don't you think?  And the pencil writing of songs made me laugh:
Buttons and Bows, Red red Robin, Micking Bird Hill, Buttermilk Skies, Cool Cool Water!

Even the tattered and torn, stained and discolored pieces are pretty.

I guess I have a thing for texture and the colors of whites and ecrus...
I find these old dried roses gorgeous.
They were white when freshly given to me by my wonderful hubby!

And now for a bit of Fall.
The leaf below is from an extremely old and withered tree in our front yard which I believe we were told is a Boxwood (does that seem right to y'all??).  I picked it up and couldn't resist sharing it with you.  It was soft and supple and gorgeous.  I even used it for the background of some of the closeups of the laces!

texture, color, detail and depth...it's got it all!

The gorgeous lace piece below is a gift from my friend Gail...you have blessed me so much!
I use this piece often in my photos...because I love it so much!

I've loved this kitchen scale for years...it was my Grossmutter's!  The rusty goodness of it is just so wonderful!  I keep it in my kitchen and put dishes on it...but today it just needed some lace!

It's time for Pearls and Lace Thursday!  Please NO Halloween themed posts...

I will also be adding this post to some parties I've listed below.  Have a visit and see some gorgeous blogs that will make you swoon!

Pearls and Lace Thursday #20

Pearls and Lace Thursday
The Old Scales
Sometimes you just know you have to stop.  Sometimes you know you have to dig to the bottom of your purse, look under the seats of the car, and even dig down into the nether regions of the cup holder to find every single dime you can find.
Then you go in the store that says:
"Sale! 30% off all items over $10.00"

There they were: Sitting on a shelf at eye level, looking like they needed a good home.  Mine.  And, they were on sale.  I just couldn't pass up the opportunity.  And I had enough cash to make them mine!

Actually, I think my husband likes them more than me!  They came with the two little pans, and a small box with some of the original weights.

They were so cute, those little weights.  I'm going to have to see if I can locate some of the ones that are missing.  If you know of any, please let me know!

And I couldn't resist putting some bling with it!  That rope of rhinestones (ooooh...doesn't that sound neat?? Rope of Rhinestones!)  and the pearls...
Ooodles of yum.

The old glasses and case were a find a few weeks ago.  I thought they looked perfect for this vignette!
Can't you just see the little old man work these glasses onto his nose, squint a bit, and then place some gold nuggets on one side of the scale...making the ounce weight balance perfectly as the scale swayed back and forth....add another nugget, wait, add another nugget, wait.....
Then with a final nod he removes the glasses, picks up the pan full of gold nuggets, drops them into a small drawstring bag and says, "That makes one ounce!  You can have ten dollars in store credit or nine dollars cash!"

What treasures do you have to share?  Join me for the 20th Pearls and Lace Thursday and show off your glitz!  Laces, Rhinestones, Pearls or Gold, we want to see what makes you smile!
