Pearls and Lace Thursday #104 Aged Pinks, Peach, or Salmon?

Peaches are in season.
Peaches with Cream!
Aged Pinks actually...or is it now officially 'Salmon'??
Whatever the name of the color, it's pretty.

Have you ever seen a tatting shuttle in this color?  I've been recently blessed with some lovely items from my favorite Antique Shop in Cape Girardeau, Missouri owned by my friend Paula.
I called her about a wonderful cobalt blue jar I saw on her Pinterest board (I'll show it to you on another post!), and asked her to get some other items together for me.  In other words, she shopped for me!
Because we live in Texas and can't go to Missiouri....well, let me tell you.  Paula gathered some WONDERFUL items together for me and it was so much fun to open the box she shipped!
Thanks again Paula....I so love my new pretties!!  They fit perfectly in with my own stash!

Some close-ups of the aged laces on cards that I adore!!

This ladder style insert piece is a favorite.

I recently purchased a vintage ledger!!  It's not a huge one, but it does have some great pages from an old store's daily records dated 1906!

It's time for Pearls and Lace Thursday!
Add the url code from your blog post to the linky below to join the party.
I've been so blessed to be able to blog and share my pretties with you!
Thanks to each of you who have visited my craft room and my blog posts past and present.

Pink and White Purse with Buttons and Roses

Can you believe it...I actually got out my sewing machine!!!
I ended up making a purse.
I used a gorgeous white ruffled eyelet toddler dress for my base.
I found the dress at a garage sale and bought it for a quarter or fifty cents.
It has the SOFTEST eyelet and was in excellent condition.  To tell you the truth, I was not wanting to cut that pretty dress and the hardest part of the whole thing was that first snip...
BUT, I salvaged and reused almost every single piece.

The ruffles just make the daintiest look.

I used a pink material I had on hand for the handles.  The extra selvage I used to create the pink roses.
The middle rose is a mix of the pink fabric and the lining of the yoke of the dress together.
The yoke of the dress, front and back, was used to make the white roses at each handle connection.
I used a glue gun to make the roses and attached them to a base of pink felt.
After trimming the excess of the felt around the base of each flower, I adhered them to another piece of pink felt into the shape shown, then stitched the whole thing to the dress.  I should have used the pink felt to stitch the buttons on as well, but I got ahead of myself.

Rosettes are just pink and white rick rack glued at the bottom.

Before I got into the project very far, I had this length of vintage seam binding set aside for the purse.
I didn't end up using it this time...it was a bit too dark a shade for the purse.
But I loved it so much, I took a picture of it!

This is the finished piece.  I hope I have someplace to carry it now!
Hoping you each have a happy week ahead!
I'll be joining a few parties this week.  Be sure and visit to see some wonderful posts!
And don't forget to come back for Pearls and Lace Thursday!!
Blessings, Doni

Pearls and Lace Thursday 103 Gifts of Sheer Elegance

A heartfelt thank you and a huge hug!!

First to Gail.  You are such a blessing to me.  We both thank you for your prayers, and for the sweet sweet gifts you lovingly shared with me.

And a thank you and huge hug to each of you who have visited my craft room!  You can see my craft room in the post after this one.
Welcome to my newest followers!
I'm still poking my nose into each of the craft rooms that are sharing with
Where Bloggers Create over at Karen's blog, here.
Be sure and have a look.  You'll be sure to be inspired!

I'd like to share with y'all a LOVELY gift that was sent to me.
The Swiss Dot apron is the softest thing I've held in ages.
Lovely stitching and gentle gathers make this the sweetest little apron I've ever seen.

The sweet needlework books and catalog are a feast for my vintage loving eyes too.
The graphics and colors are just wonderful!

I might have to try to make one or more of these doilies!

Dotted Swiss.  Sheer Elegance!

I'll be sure to show y'all some more of the graphics from these books later, and you KNOW the apron will be displayed in a spot that will show if off!
If you'd like to join the party, be sure and add your url code for your post to the link below!
I'll be joining a few parties myself!
May you all have a blessed week!
Doni

My Craft Room Reveal for Where Bloggers Create 2012

A huge welcome to each of you!  I hope you enjoy my craft room.
I've spent MONTHS getting ready for your visit!  Many hours of cleaning and reorganizing.
I've added a ton of new items to my collections, and have displayed them because I love them.
If you'd like to see last year's photos of my room, you can click here to compare.
Come on in, grab a glass of tea, and have a look!  You may open drawers and boxes to your heart's content...
A huge thanks to Karen at My Desert Cottage for hosting this awesome party!

My favorite spot (below) is the sewing area.  Not that I sew much.  I just love sewing notions and laces.
I have quite a few vintage sewing boxes that are covered in various tattered fabrics, and yes...
they are loaded!
Someone asked me if I knew which drawers had 'what' in them, and for the most part, I do.
I have lots of lace hidden in these drawers!  I'll show you some of my favorite drawers later in this post.

The seam binding ribbon is so pretty, I decided to let it hang low over the shelf below to help hide my most used supplies (pens, scissors, etc.).  I love the colors and sometimes just run my hand through it for fun!

As you can see, I utilize almost every inch of wall space!  The shelving is a mix of wooden shelves on simple brackets of metal or wood.  I use inexpensive jars to hold favorite buttons and threads.
The white plastic drawers have held my scrapbooking items for years, and I've recently added vintage pieces of music pages to their fronts to unify them.  The shelf liner is also vintage music, simply cut into strips with shaped scissors and adhered to the wooden shelves.  Easiest and quickest project I've done.

My favorite laces and threads have center stage, because I love to see the pretty colors.

I guess it just makes me happy to gaze at the lovely shades of colors.  At one time I thought I would try to use only one color combination (pink and cream) in my room decor.  I quickly found out that I couldn't live without seeing all of the lovely items I'd collected, so they all came out!

This large green floral box actually folds up.  I have it sitting on a shelf and it is full of counted cross stitch patterns and materials.

Using vintage storage items for my pretties has to be one of the best ways to decorate my space.
If I see what I have, I tend to use it more often.  When I choose something for a photo shoot for a blog post, I try to make sure to put it back where I will remember it!  Sometimes I have piles and piles of items on my guestroom bed where I tend to do most of my photography.  Thankfully I don't have much overnight company!  I love this little room, but have wanted to swap rooms with the guest room.  The light in there is sooooo much better than this room.  Maybe for next year!

At the time I am writing this, I have to admit to y'all that I've already changed these lingerie boxes around!
It seems that I'm always morphing, shifting, changing and re-doing something in this room!

Over the last few years, I have been blessed to be able to host a blog party called
Pearls and Lace Thursday.  I try to remember to place a Bible verse in each post, but I sometimes forget.
One of the most important things about my blog though, is that it is a place where the Word is shared.
Using the collections God has given me as a background, I'd like to share some things with you:

I hope that you'll each be blessed by my posts and if you have any questions, always feel free to email me.
And come back each Thursday to join me for Pearls and Lace Thursdays!!

Sneak Peeks below!  I have lots to share with y'all in future posts!!

OK...this drawer of laces above is my favorite drawer....

Well actually...THIS drawer (above) is my favorite!!

Hmmm, I have lots of favorites to be honest with you!!!

I think I must just be a collector of pretties more than a crafter these days.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to make things, but it seems that more and more I prefer to
just make it look pretty and then look at it...photograph it, and blog about it!

I hope you enjoyed touring my little craft room.  I've enjoyed getting it ready for you!
Now, if I'll just uncover the sewing machine and actually MAKE something!

A huge hug for each of you,
and a big welcome for my newest followers!
blessings,
Doni
