Would You Like Flowers or Animals with Your Tea??

Silly I know, but sometimes I just can't remember to get my pictures of my teacups done in time for the Tea Parties on your blogs!!  I wait until evening, then the lighting inside the house is awful....actually it's ALWAYS awful...it's so dark in here.

But I had just enough sunlight to take a cup and saucer, a small book of poems, and run outside with my camera a few moments ago so I could join the party and share some pictures with you all.

My husband is a plant lover.  He surprises me constantly with flowers...usually in pots!

The purple star shaped flowers made it through the frigid cold of the winter and now are blooming and growing beautifully!  I decided they would make a pretty spot to begin my teacup pictures.

Next stop was the ONLY rose I have in bloom at the moment, but I'm sure that will change daily.

It's the Tropicana Rose my husband brought home to me a long time ago, in a pot, and we even moved it from our first home to this one.

But inquisitive B'Lou kitty decided she liked tea, or at least wanted to smell it. (It's really empty, but I didn't tell her that).

Then I meandered over to what we affectionately call the 'Medusa' Bush.  It has beautiful blossoms on it, and when he brought it home, my husband told me it would grow to be a large bush.  It seemed like it grew overnight into a HUGE bush, almost up to my neck, and many feet around.  It has so many branches, we thought of Medusa, and the name stuck.

Now.  About that time, Glory (or Gorey as I call her), decided to join me, and by the look on her face wanted me to know how much she liked tea.

I declined to allow her join me. 

And below are the Hydrangea bushes that my next door neighbor allowed us to move over to our house.  His mother loved these, and since her house is no longer standing, we asked if we could have the hydrangeas.  They are white, and when they bloomed last year they were gorgeous.  So beautiful in fact that when they dried, I went over there and cut off the dried blooms.

I have enjoyed these dried blooms SOOO much this last fall and winter.  They are my 'go to' flowers for many of my vignettes of photos for my blog posts.  You just can't go wrong with the lovely coloring, and I have a lasting memory of the beautiful blooms year round.

Favorite Teacups on my Cake Stand!

I just can't pick one, or even two to call my favorites....and in fact I have others that I would describe as some of my favorites, but they won't all fit on the cake stand!!

These are the 4 I chose (some because of size) to have this special place of honor in my house.

And the cake stand?  Well, it's a present from one of my dear friends.  She made my wedding cake for my wedding, and this was the stand she used and gave as a gift to us.  I love it because I love her!

Delicate roses on a Bavarian cup and saucer,

colorful flowers surrounding the saucer and inner rim of this set,

pale, pale pink cup and saucer with a spray of beauty for the eye as you sip,

and heavily guilded edges with lovely sprays of blooms to complete the arrangement.

Hmmm, I notice that it's missing something....

Perhaps a small posy in the middle of the 4 cups and saucers would complete it.

This blue and white doily is one that I made last year by copying one I found at a sale somewhere!

I love it and it goes well in my kitchen.

Simply Dogwood, Must Mean Spring is Close!

I know.  It's January.  So?  Can't I hope?

Can't I dream?  Can't I go ahead and at least look at some flowers on the teacups and in pictures?

If I don't get a dose of flowers every now and then, I think I'll just dry up.

They seem to always be what calms and soothes.  They're restful.

And they're just plain beautiful.

Maybe that's why flowers are the main embellishment used by artist's on so many china and porcelain objects!

OK.  So it's January, but who doesn't want Spring to go ahead and be here?

Hope I Can Remember How to Post!!!

I've been sick for weeks and the computer room has been so cold, I dared not even try to do a blog post lately, but now I'm better and the temp's are lower, I feel more energetic and hopefully I'll be able to get back into the swing of things!

AND, I had a birthday yesterday that was awesome!

My wonderful hubby!  He's so sweet.  And generous.  We had a great day!

I'm going to share a teacup that I've had for a while.  During last summer and fall I hit a lot of yard sales as well as ebay shops, and found some lovely items!

This one is just so pretty.  Make in Germany, it's colors are wonderful, and I love the colors as well as the cut work at the base of the cup.  Fancy handles make the whole thing frilly looking, and the scallops all around give it a very feminine feel as well.

It's an English cup and saucer with a pretty fruit motif tranferred onto it.

It kind of makes me want a cup of Orange Tea!!!

NOW for the Teacup!

I've been looking high and low for cups and saucers.  It seems to me that finding them is a hard thing to do!

Unless I go to ebay (which by the way did you know that sellers can stop an auction just because they don't like what the winning bids will end up being?? I NEVER thought ebay would allow that! Seems they do!  Is it just me or does that just sound like a scam??)

or etsy, I can't find many at all.

BUT, I went to a number of sales the past month and this is one of the sweet cups I found.

This sweet cup and saucer were just sitting there in the hot sun, waiting for ME to come and save them from...well, just to come and buy them!  I asked if there were any more available and the nice ladies said, no, no others.  So this is the cup and saucer that found a home with me.  They are in perfect condition and I'm delighted with the cobalt blue edgings and gold designs that make this set so elegant.

I also fell in love with this doily (ebay) and want to try to make one of my own.  I've been crocheting a lot lately, and have a new love!  From only crocheting afghans previously, I found out that I love making doilies!  More of those later!

Waterfall Teacup and Upcoming Giveaway!!

Demi Tasse set # 7

It's another sweet little set that was made in Japan.  This one has a scene painted on it that has a very intricate scene on it.  The cup shows a waterfall and tree, with a lovely blue sky.  The water appears to be flowing along into the saucer which has a sweet covered bridge depicted with the water flowing underneath.  A pathway is painted alongside, and hills overlook the peaceful scene.

It is not anything like the others, and I've never seen another one similar to it.

I've been delighted with these little cups and saucers and have purchased a few more examples to add to the collection.  But for the picture above, with the pink doily, I've now shared each one with you!

Demi Tasse Set #5

Demi Tasse set #5 is a Japanese set.  The cup is rimmed at the bottom with a blue-green color band and the upper 2/3 of the cup has a repeated scene that is bordered with gilt decorated edges. 

The plate is surrounded with the same scene with gold motif, and the middle of the saucer matches the lower band on the cup.  It's a really sweet set, made in Japan.

I've really been enthralled with the smallness of the demi tasse sets.  I've been looking for other sets and have successfully found a few more! I'm so glad someone thought to make these sweet cups and saucers in a small size!  I can collect many more of this size than regular size!!  Oh the possibilities!

It's hot PINK! and the primroses on the front of the cup are a transfer.

It's tiny and thin, and look at that pointy handle! Like a bat ear!!

I like how the saucer gets a bit darker at the center.  The rims are gilded with just a sparse brushing of gold.

No design on the inside, and no mark on the bottom.

Grace has four new babies! This is her first litter...

One girl and three boys.

They don't like tea!!

(No puppies were given tea for the purpose of this blog post!!!)
