Pearls and Lace Thursday #42 and Spring Giveaway!!!

Spring is Here!!!
And it's about time, right???  I'm so excited.  The fireplace has seen it's LAST fire of the season, the dust and grime are slowly but surely being cleaned up, and the firewood can stay OFF the front porch!
I am having a giveaway to celebrate, so be sure and read all the way to the end of this post to find out more about it.  And by the way, it will be open to EVERYONE wherever you may live!!
(this should be fun!)

To start out though, I wanted to share with you the MAJOR finds of my last few weeks at the garage sales and yard sales in my area.  The weather has been windy, but still, there are some great sales out there!

I truly apologize if I knocked anyone over while I ran to pick these up.
Just kidding!!  I didn't run....well, almost, but NOT!!!  My heart sure did kick up a few notches though!!!

The teapot and sugar bowl were actually in two different places, and I found the sugar bowl first...
on the 50 cent table!!!
The teapot was not that inexpensive, but almost!

Truly gorgeous.  I fell in love instantly.  The name of the pattern I think is Florentine by Crown Ducal in England.  By the way, I am now on the hunt for a creamer if anyone knows of one!!

At the same sale as the teapot, I found a box of linen napkins.  Again, gorgeous, and I apologize if I knocked anyone over.  Actually, the box I found was full of them.  There are 3 different sets.
One of the sets has the crocheted edging and corners, another set has an embroidered W on them, and the last set has no embellishments, but they are beautiful.

Hand made tatted edging and a big piece of deep edging complete the box, and to think they all came from the same place!  I even bought 2 hats, in boxes which I will share with y'all at another time.

I will be joining up with some parties to help celebrate my finds as well as let as many of you as possible know about my own giveaway.  I think there are a lot of us who have wintertime doldrums and who MUST have some sun and beauty in our lives this time of year.

These are the parties I will be participating in:

White Wednesday

Vintage Thingie Thursday

Treasure Hunt Thursday

Open House Party

Show and Tell Friday
It's a Hodgepodge Friday
Frugalicious Friday
A Crafty Soiree
Vintage Inspiration Friday

And now, here is a picture of the Giveaway items.

A winner will be chosen and posted on the May 11th Pearls and Lace party, so be sure and leave me an email address if you don't have a blog so that I can notify you should you be the winner.
This giveaway is open to anyone anywhere, and I'm looking forward to making new friends from all over the globe!!!
All the best to you!!
Blessings,
Doni

A whole roll of lace edging, One pair of green clipon earrings, a piece of embellished metal, hand made roses made by me and a small heart shaped pillow (also made by me), buttons, seam binding, doily, and a ceramic air freshener that is beautifully decorated.  More items will be added as the month goes by, and I will be posting more pictures of the items in later posts.  Stay tuned!!  Lots of ways to enter all month long!!

The best thing I found in a thrift shop was in an op shop in Melbourne (beautiful lined cabbage rose printed curtains for 5 Dollars!) Absolutely gorgeous.

I am a follower. The best find was an antique oil lamp that was for an old 3 wheeler bike. I love old lamps and lanterns and did not know at the time what type it was. I paid $15.00 for it and found out it was worth $2500. That was many years ago and needless to say I sold it to a member of the 3 wheeler club!!! ~~Sherry~~

All I can say is you made a haul on that shopping trip. I have many linens, but want all I see. You found some nice ones.

Isn't it funny when you spy something great across the store and you just know that someone else is racing toward them at the same time???
It takes forever to get to it! I am glad you got to all of those pretty things first. Love the box of linens.
The best thing I have found was a Waterford picture frame for $5.00 or maybe the Barley twist table from the same store.
Thanks for coming to my first Treasure Hunt Thursday.

I don't go to many yard sales, but I do remember the first one I ever went to about 20+ years ago and purchased a little brass box. I polished it up and decorated it with tiny dried roses and put on a shelf in our living room. I still have it and it is one of my favorite things!

My coolest find was from a "Blessings Sale". A little old Gentleman with a long gray beard was having a sale because he was moving!
When I got out of the car I spotted this large white vase with roses on it! It was hid under the table behind some boxes!
I ask him what he wanted for it and he said a 1.00. It was a Johnson Bros vase. I have it displayed in my loft area of my new house!! Go to my blog and you can see it!

wow, it must have been so exciting to find the matching teapot and sugar bowl in two different places! i once went to a flea market in Greece and looking through a small pile of broken fancy jewelry, i came across an old madonna and child pendant that looked like it was made of silver and mother and pearl. i asked how much it was and the woman motioned for me to take it for free. i couldn't believe it at first but she kept waving me away and nodding and saying something like "souvenir"! later i looked more closely at it and it has 1000 stamped on the back. i wonder, could it be made of pure silver?

The coolest thing I ever found while treasure hunting was a wonderful old bible that someone had discarded because the cover had torn from its spine. It is a KJV bible that has special commentary on the book of Revelation and events to come. I was amazed it was discarded and available for so cheap - I hope to one day find someone who can fix the cover for me. In the meantime, I take special care when I use it but it has proven to be an invaluable reference!

Oh my goodness, it has been a long time since I went to a yard sale, but we go to auctions every so often around here and I would say, a set of clear glass dishes has been my best find. DH also found great old windows and galvanized items dumpster diving. LOL

just found your blog, thanks for the chance in the giveaway. I have been to so many estate sales and yard sales how do I choose my greatest find? Nothing of value I wish but recently I found a vintage milk glass swag lamp that matches to a t, my table lamp in the same room. Gotta love that and at a price of $10!
