White Roses and Dancing Cherubs

This belonged to my great-grandmother whom I never met, but I have heard so many stories about her over the years that it seems like I did know her! She was a hard-working single mother of 4 children in the early 1900's in Dallas. I don't know how she made it. It seems almost impossible, but with her integrity and strength, she raised those 4 children in a time where the world was changing and a woman wasn't thought of as the head of the house.


I'd like to think that her husband, my great-grandfather, must have bought this for her. I don't know the actual story, but perhaps this was a gift to her from him. It bears a label from a jewelry store in Dallas, Arthur A. Everts Co. Maybe he passed the store one day and saw it in the window. Maybe he went to the store with her and she saw it and fell in love with it at first sight. How ever it happened, I know it was special to her, and she cherished it for many many years.


The delicacy of the roses surrounding the dancing cherubs is so pretty, and the coloring is something I've never seen in any other pieces. It seems to be made of a delicate type of material, though I can't tell you what it is. All I know is that I am delighted to have something that was considered so special to someone in my ancestry.
Different subject: Blogger...does anyone know why I have to post my blog in between the 'code' for my pictures? Do you all have the same problem?? Maybe it's a setting that I have it on or something and don't know how to fix it. Any help really would be appreciated!!
