Embroidered Basket of Roses

The time, the detail, the patience!!

The Roses piece made by my mother is my favorite. I know that she spent many hours, all very enjoyable to her, working on it.

But what am I going to do with it?? It's just one piece of large material with the embroidery on it. Should I make it the center of a quilt (like I can quilt or something)...or frame it?

I love all the pinks of the embroidery, the postcards, the doily and the phamplet. I thought they all went together well. Maybe I'll just have to leave the piece as part of the vignette!!

However I end up using it, it will be my alltime favorite piece that she made.
I'm joining up with How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday here:

I love the embroidery piece. My grandmother did several similar pieces which I have some of and that is my favorite kind of handwork to do myself.

Oh, your mother is so talented and patient. I love that piece. I just posted a piece that doesn't even compare to yours. Lucky, lucky you!

Doni this is a beautiful piece and the possibilities are endless but I would be like you and have a hard time trying to figure out what would be the best way to use such a lovely keepsake.
It would be beautiful in an antique picture frame or a pillow.
I loved catching up on your site while I was here.
Just have to come by more often. Your puppies are adorable I have to go to your site and check them out.
Thanks for the really funny comment you left me

WELCOME DONI, TO PINK SATURDAY.
YOUR BLOG IS BEAUTIFUL.
YOUR MOTHER CREATED A BEAUTIFUL INHERITANCE TO PASS DOWN FOR GENERATIONS. A FRIEND OF MINE WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO FIND A TABLE THAT WAS LIKE A SHADOW BOX, AND IF YOU KNEW SOMEONE WHO WAS HANDY WITH WOOD, THEY COULD EASILY MAKE YOU ONE WITH A THRIFT STORE TABLE......BUT MY FRIEND HAS HER GREAT GRANDMOTHERS GLASSES, THE FAMILY BIBLE AND A VINTAGE BROACH OF HER AUNTS. IT IS GORGEOUS AND EVERYTHING IS STORED SAFELY AND WHEN YOU WANT TO TAKE IT OUT AND FEEL IT, YOU JUST OPEN THE LID. YOUR MOTHER'S PIECE WOULD BE GORGEOUS IN SOMETHING LIKE THAT.
HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND

What a wonderful keepsake. I would frame it, that way nothing will stain it or wear it out. Welcome to Pink Saturday. See you next week.

Doni, Welcome to Pink Saturday!
The beautifully enbroidered piece done by your Mother is a real treasure. I agree you must do something with it!
Might I suggest, that you frame it and also frame some of the lovely things you have in your vignette and put them all together as a grouping with your Mother's lovely piece in the center. They do look so pretty all together.
Thank you for sharing this sentimental beauty!

Welcome to Pink Saturday. This is a great bunch of gals, and I'm sure you'll love being a part of all the pink fun.

The embroidery is gorgeous!!! I would probably frame it and display it on an easel.

By the way, the puppy is adorable. I'm a lover of the hound family...I have two beagles. I think hounds (especially beagles, bassets, and daucshaunds) have the most adorable faces!!

I enjoy and appreciate all handwork. I have done it in the past and it does take time and patience. Since I have gotten older, my eyes and patience seemed to h ave slowed down. These are all great work from loving hands.

That's a beautiful piece of embroidery that your mother did! My Mom embroidered a big piece like that, and I ended up framing it, because I didn't know what else to do with it either!
Welcome to your first Pink Saturday. It's so nice to meet you!

I have a similar piece that has fringe and was used as a bedspread. I think it would look great hanging as a window or door curtain or maybe over a headboard! Yours is beautiful! I love embroidery! Jacqueline

Good Morning Doni Sweetie...
Oh my gosh is this piece every exquisite. What beautiful embroidery your sweet Moma did. The stitches to the basket are so beautiful and detailed. Her hands made a beautiful piece of heritage for you to love and cherish for many years to come.

I agree with the other ladies it should be inside of a glass of some sorts to preserve it for sure. There are so many options out there now, they are endless. Check at some of these craft stores or maybe one of the quilt shops could give you some options also.

Just so beautiful of a share today. I am Country Wings in Phoenix, your newest follower. I am so thrilled with your blog, I can't wait to see what you share next. Please stop by and say hi. I would be so honored if you signed up to follow my blog as well. I love meeting new friends and sharing crafting ideas.

Have a beautiful Saturday sweetie.

Country hugs, Sherry

Welcome and Happy PS. Your Mom's piece is so lovely. I do needle work and I do quilting. I would do one of two things, one would be to frame the piece, secondly I would consider a quilted wall hanging with this piece as the centerpiece with piecing around it to compliment the center. Either of these would be more protective of this beautiful work. In a bed quilt it would get soiled. Anyway, some suggestions.

Hello Doni, Happy Pink Saturday. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a sweet comment. Love your post this week.
This embroidery is stunning, I've seen large pieces like this used as a summer bedspread. Not quilted just a thin throw. Is it large enough for that?

This is an extremely belated Happy Pink Saturday to you, Doni. I have been so busy with work that I can hardly get around to visit. But, I do want you to know that I am happy you joined us.

Your mother's work is exquisite. What an incredible treasure for you. My inclination would be to frame it, but I have pieces in my closet that I need to do something with, too.

Thank you for sharing.
