Pearls and Lace, My Favorites!

Thread Winders, Laces, and Pearl

My love for vintage thread and laces has led me to do something that I have thought about for months.
After seeing the prices of vintage thread winders on cards that fetched over forty bucks for a gorgeous group of four (I can't afford that!!), I decided to make my own.

First and foremost...I need to give credit where it is due, and thank the ladies who have given us free graphics to us for our artwork and crafts!! .
Over at Graphics Fairy, Karen has shared some of the most incredible images for use I've ever seen.
Dawn at the Feathered Nest has some lovely images that are wonderful as well.
I used one of her frames for some of these!
Angie at Knick Of Time has some lovelies that are so much fun too...give them a look and you'll see!
If I have overlooked someone and have used your image, PLEASE forgive me, and PLEASE let me know so that I may give you credit!!

I took the image and copied it to cardstock using 9 prints per page.  After cutting out the cards, I made a template for a bobbin card, and cut the prints out.  Making the four-sided winder was just a matter of adhering the edges of the cards together, making it 3 dimensional.  Keep the center glue free so it can gently be pulled and shaped for winding.
This is where the fun part lies....winding the thread on it!  I use the old JPCoats embroidery threads for this purpose because I prefer to use the DMC thread for my cross-stitch projects.  You can find inexpensive older embroidery thread on etsy or ebay or even garage sales or Goodwill!

I will be linking up with some of the parties below, so be sure and go visit them and enjoy some beauty.
I hope you have a beautiful day!
Blessings, Doni

These turned out lovely! I have been wanting to do something like this with my ribbon because it is all stuffed into a jar and jumbled mess. This would be a fun project :)

It's me again, just looking at all your beautiful work. I've been doing so much gardening lately that my sewing is getting dusty (well, maybe not dusty). It's great just to look at your post.

What a wonderful idea. TFS!
BTW Dover books will let you sign up to get monthly free graphics. I've gotten some wonderful thing that way (and bought a few books because of it, but its not required.)
