Pink and White Purse with Buttons and Roses

Can you believe it...I actually got out my sewing machine!!!
I ended up making a purse.
I used a gorgeous white ruffled eyelet toddler dress for my base.
I found the dress at a garage sale and bought it for a quarter or fifty cents.
It has the SOFTEST eyelet and was in excellent condition.  To tell you the truth, I was not wanting to cut that pretty dress and the hardest part of the whole thing was that first snip...
BUT, I salvaged and reused almost every single piece.

The ruffles just make the daintiest look.

I used a pink material I had on hand for the handles.  The extra selvage I used to create the pink roses.
The middle rose is a mix of the pink fabric and the lining of the yoke of the dress together.
The yoke of the dress, front and back, was used to make the white roses at each handle connection.
I used a glue gun to make the roses and attached them to a base of pink felt.
After trimming the excess of the felt around the base of each flower, I adhered them to another piece of pink felt into the shape shown, then stitched the whole thing to the dress.  I should have used the pink felt to stitch the buttons on as well, but I got ahead of myself.

Rosettes are just pink and white rick rack glued at the bottom.

Before I got into the project very far, I had this length of vintage seam binding set aside for the purse.
I didn't end up using it this time...it was a bit too dark a shade for the purse.
But I loved it so much, I took a picture of it!

This is the finished piece.  I hope I have someplace to carry it now!
Hoping you each have a happy week ahead!
I'll be joining a few parties this week.  Be sure and visit to see some wonderful posts!
And don't forget to come back for Pearls and Lace Thursday!!
Blessings, Doni

I have been making a lot of vintage clutches and sachets lately. This is a wonderful idea.

This is adorable--I have a bunch of fabric and a pattern to make myself a ruffle purse. I have just been uninspired--now I am inspired. Thanks!
