Pearls and Lace Thursday #34

My apologies.

The photos in today's post are not very good quality, and I'm sorry.

I really try to get beautiful vignettes or close-ups for you to see, but I'm just not happy with the way these turned out.  And, I usually have more pictures, but they were horrible, so I just went with the best I had.

Now, I'm going to show you an interesting piece I found last year.

It's a four footed hand painted piece with a mark on the bottom.

I'm not quite sure what to actually call it, but I thought the blossoms on it were gorgeous!

You can actually see the brush strokes and mixtures of paint on the violet petals and the leaves.

One day, I'll know how to use my new camera and get some really good shots with little light.

I sure wish I had a nice spot to take great pictures!  Without day light, it's next to impossible for me!

Simply Dogwood, Must Mean Spring is Close!

I know.  It's January.  So?  Can't I hope?

Can't I dream?  Can't I go ahead and at least look at some flowers on the teacups and in pictures?

If I don't get a dose of flowers every now and then, I think I'll just dry up.

They seem to always be what calms and soothes.  They're restful.

And they're just plain beautiful.

Maybe that's why flowers are the main embellishment used by artist's on so many china and porcelain objects!

OK.  So it's January, but who doesn't want Spring to go ahead and be here?

Pearls and Lace Thursdays of the Past

As I've been blogging for the last year, I've realized a few things about myself.  I find that I love pearls and lace (of course) more and more.  I seek the laces and pearls wherever I go shopping.
But I have also found some new favorites.  Hand Painted items have become a HUGE love for me!  Even today I received a new object (to be shared later), and I'm on the hunt for more.

My mother's stichery, and dried roses are also some of my favorite subjects. 

I have a camera now that I'm trying to get used to, and as the new year progresses, I hope to capture new subject material in much better light and with much more appeal.

I've also found out that I love old books, especially pastel colored children's books!  I seem to use them all the time!

The hand painted bowl below has become my favorite piece ever.  It sits in a place of honor in my home.  I've only once seen a piece that compares, and now I own a piece to be proud of.

And along with the pearls and lace theme, I have begun making pillow recently.  I have opened an Etsy shop, and hopefully I'll be adding more and more items to it during the year.

Purple and black are the main colors, with pearl and rhineston button accents.

A vintage embroidered doily was used to make a pocket, and the roses were crocheted by me.

Hope I Can Remember How to Post!!!

I've been sick for weeks and the computer room has been so cold, I dared not even try to do a blog post lately, but now I'm better and the temp's are lower, I feel more energetic and hopefully I'll be able to get back into the swing of things!

AND, I had a birthday yesterday that was awesome!

My wonderful hubby!  He's so sweet.  And generous.  We had a great day!

I'm going to share a teacup that I've had for a while.  During last summer and fall I hit a lot of yard sales as well as ebay shops, and found some lovely items!

This one is just so pretty.  Make in Germany, it's colors are wonderful, and I love the colors as well as the cut work at the base of the cup.  Fancy handles make the whole thing frilly looking, and the scallops all around give it a very feminine feel as well.
