Like this sweet Teacup!

It's an English cup and saucer with a pretty fruit motif tranferred onto it.

It kind of makes me want a cup of Orange Tea!!!

I like the scalloping on the saucer.  It makes it look so dainty.

I've Got The Blues and My 100th Post Giveaway Continues!

The Color Blue

There's just something about cobalt blue...I don't know if it's the deepness of the blue, the almost black aspect of it's shading, or the lighter parts that grab me, but cobalt anything is gorgeous to me.

The color of the sky mixed with the color of the ocean, light shining through them to make them look like sapphire jewels.  Blue Beauty!

These appear to be broken cobalt bottles that have been tumbled to make them into what I was told are rocks for the bottom of a fish tank!

I think my new relish dish is the prettiest way to display them...and no fish are needed!

Hmmm, perhaps I need to add a few of these pieces of Blue to the Giveaway???

Pearls and Lace #24 and the Giveaway Continues!

Lacey Goodness!

This is the first time I have ever tried to create anything like this with all of the gorgeous laces I have!  I finally decided (after getting my machine out of the closet, dusting it off, re-learning how to thread it, trying valiantly 10 times to get the bobbin placed correctly, and running a few practice strips) to make something!

This is my first attempt, and frankly, I'm getting excited at the possibilities!

I think the rosettes need some pearl buttons in their centers...what do you think??

I love how mixing up the various shades of whites ended up looking together!

I backed it with a favorite piece of material I've had for 20 years!!

NOW for the Teacup!

I've been looking high and low for cups and saucers.  It seems to me that finding them is a hard thing to do!

Unless I go to ebay (which by the way did you know that sellers can stop an auction just because they don't like what the winning bids will end up being?? I NEVER thought ebay would allow that! Seems they do!  Is it just me or does that just sound like a scam??)

or etsy, I can't find many at all.

BUT, I went to a number of sales the past month and this is one of the sweet cups I found.

This sweet cup and saucer were just sitting there in the hot sun, waiting for ME to come and save them from...well, just to come and buy them!  I asked if there were any more available and the nice ladies said, no, no others.  So this is the cup and saucer that found a home with me.  They are in perfect condition and I'm delighted with the cobalt blue edgings and gold designs that make this set so elegant.

I also fell in love with this doily (ebay) and want to try to make one of my own.  I've been crocheting a lot lately, and have a new love!  From only crocheting afghans previously, I found out that I love making doilies!  More of those later!

Pearls and Lace Thursday #23 and 100th Post Giveaway!!

I'm celebrating my 100th post with a party!

Pearls and Lace being the name of the party just made the giveaway easy...pearls and lace of course along with some pretty items I've come across this past year from garage sales and thrift shopping.

The flowered box is a recent yard sale find and when I saw it I thought how perfect it would be to add to the giveaway.  Crystals in 5 different sizes from an old chandelier, old-fashioned makeup box,

Powder box, fall themed handkerchief, small plate with transfer of cross-stitched flowers,

Hand crocheted doilies, collection of vintage postcards,

Tiny glass bottles (which will have their stoppers included),

Some of the interesting pink rocks that I found at a garage sale during the summer,

and maybe even a few extras as I come across other items I want to add!

Waterfall Teacup and Upcoming Giveaway!!

Demi Tasse set # 7

It's another sweet little set that was made in Japan.  This one has a scene painted on it that has a very intricate scene on it.  The cup shows a waterfall and tree, with a lovely blue sky.  The water appears to be flowing along into the saucer which has a sweet covered bridge depicted with the water flowing underneath.  A pathway is painted alongside, and hills overlook the peaceful scene.

It is not anything like the others, and I've never seen another one similar to it.

I've been delighted with these little cups and saucers and have purchased a few more examples to add to the collection.  But for the picture above, with the pink doily, I've now shared each one with you!
