Pearls and Lace 101 Giveaway Continues!! One more week!

It's Pearls and Lace Thursday number 100!

So of course I have to celebrate right???

I'm giving away one box filled with laces and doodads that are sure to thrill you!

I'm not going to list it all...so have a look at the pics.  There are many different items.

The box I am using is an OLD, much used, box that has seen better days.  It can be used though, but it needs some TLC.  You crafty ladies make beautiful things out of old items, and I want to see what you can do with this!!  Lace trims, buttons, thread, etc. are included, so maybe you can use some for the decorating.

Pearls and Lace Thursday #99 The Weaver

My Grandmother was probably one of the most important people in my life.

She was an integral part of the family, and only lived three doors down the road from our house.

We walked to her house, with both she and my mother watching from each front yard, while my sis and I walked the distance to house, or back home.

She was a mixture of French/German, spoke some of both, and had the softest skin and numerous wrinkles.

Her hair was the perfect silver gray...not too curly, and not too straight.

She was perfect in my eyes...

One of the items I remember from her home was this picture.

It is just a poem with a hand painted long stemmed rose next to the printed words.

A friend of hers painted that rose.  I've tried to copy it and share it with my own painting efforts (can we say epic fail??)

Anyhow, I have cherished this picture that is framed and located on the wall in my dining room.

I'd like to share it with you, because the words of the poem have come to me several times in my life.

Perhaps they can help you in yours.  I will print out the words for you below so you can copy and paste them if you'd like.

THE WEAVER

My life is but a weaving

Between the Lord and me;

I may not choose the colors,

He knows what they should be;

For He can see the pattern

Upon the upper side,

While I can see it only

On this, the under side.

Sometimes He weaveth illness

Which seemeth strange to me;

But I shall trust His judgement,

And work on faithfully;

'Tis He who fills the shuttle,

He know just what is best,

So I shall weave in earnest

And leave with Him the rest.

Not till the loom is silent

And the shuttles cease to fly,

Shall God unroll the canvass

And explain the reason why--

The dark threads are as needful

In the Weaver's skillful hand

As are the threads of gold and silver

In the pattern He has planned.

I love the darker tones of white on the laces, and there's nothing like the lustre of pearls!

It just doesn't get much better than this.

Pearls and Lace Thursday #98 Hand Painted China Love

Getting the house cleaned up this week.  Laundry room...finished!

Kitchen...floors still to do

Living Room...almost done

and the rest?  Well, let's say there's still next week!!

I must admit...I'm NOT a very good housekeeper, and yet I love a clean house!

How is that?  Well, I'm just busy doing other things!!!

Like taking pictures or decorating something.

You know....

I have these dishes that are my very favorites.  I have a huge cloche that I keep them under, and the whole collection sits front and center in the entry to my kitchen.

It is the prettiest grouping with all the pastel shades...blues, pinks and yellows.

I did a post about them a year ago, it's located  here  where you can see the whole set on my table.

The delicate hues and the softness of the painting make these so romantic, don't you think?

Seriously.  When there are pretty things to look at, and play with, who wants to clean house??
