Pearls and Lace Thursday#13

Header Redo!
I decided to redo my header and have pulled together a number of my favorite things.
This has been a fun vignette to get ready.
Do any of y'all have a designated spot that you keep handy for taking pictures?
I keep a lot of my laces and jewelry finds, glassware and fun stuff handy just for these times.

One of my very favorite verses. We have a number of dogs and among numerous names, we have one named Gracie and another named Glory.
Those names were not based on this verse, they just happened!!

When I first started blogging, I used the 3 purple Louis Sherry tins for my header. They were just stacked on top of each other, straight out of the bag from the flea market where I had just purchased them. I did not pose them or anything! I knew that one day I'd get the hang of picture taking enough to make them a part of a picture of favorite things for a new header.

I hope y'all like what you see! Please join me this week for Pearls and Lace Thursday.
Thank you to each of you who in the past have joined with me. Your blogs are full of so many lovely pictures and words. I've enjoyed so much getting to know you!

Unique Whites

Unique yes, white, welllllll.........
Let's just say it's a "shade" of the whites.
The darkest one!

Absolutley too cool not to share that!

It seems like I find the neatest things at the places I shop at, whether flea markets, antique shops, or garage sales, almost each one has 'something' that is unique and worth purchasing.

Who could resist this little lamb...
Soooo cute!

A beautiful teapot, a HUGE jar, laces, pearls, etc.

Now this piece of music did NOT come from a garage sale.
It was EBAY!!!

I am linking up with Faded Charm for White Wednesday today!!
Please go over and check out the lovely blogs that are linked for today.

Pearls and Lace Thursday #12

It must have been nice to be surrounded with laces and silks every day, parasols and brooches, hats with feathers, teas every afternoon, visits from friends and visits to friends.
The nostalgia from a bygone era still evokes something inside us that relates somehow to those women who lived before us. Today's society of rushing here and there to just get the job done has turned our world into a place where I feel I don't belong.

I'm guessing I just wish the old things had stuck around for us to enjoy more, not just as a novelty, but a daily routine.
I would certainly not want to live without electricity or air-conditioning.
My dishwasher and I are great friends, but still, the beauty of the antiques around us were the daily utensils of those days long ago.

Although the internet and our cell phones have just about wiped out the snail mail and landlines as means of staying in touch with people, sometimes I like the card in the mail or the postcard from a friend.
They're tangible. I can keep them. I can cherish THEM!

And who knows. Maybe some day years and years from now someone will want those cards I kept. Maybe someone will even want this old cell phone as a prized antique???
I've linked up with Suzanne over at Coloradolady for Vintage Thingies Thursday...

Feathers in My Tea!

Do you like feathers in your tea? Neither do I.
Ghastly thought. Need I say more?
Actually, I'm showing off my rusty crusty new enamelware table!

Now who on earth painted the base of it YELLOW, I don't know.
But I actually had a doily with yellow and red, so I brought it all together with the Rooster teapot and creamer with sugar, and there you have it!
It will NOT be staying yellow....a nice coat of white paint will be perfect.
Just not now!
Be sure and join in with all of the other Tuesday parties going on this week!!!
Isn't Tuesday a wonderful Blog day???
Be sure and get out your Pearls and Laces and join me here on Thursday for

More Blue Blessings!

I wasn't watching Felix The Cat,
BUT, my heart DID go Pitter Pat!!!

The same garage sale I told you about where my husband found the hand painted china had these 4 cross-stitched napkins, outlined with blue. They were so sweet I couldn't pass them up!
And at the store we found before the garage sale??
This was where I just about lost it.
There, on a shelf up high, as part of a display for all the world to see,
just sitting there waiting for me to eye them, were FIVE
of these lovely delicate handpainted beauties:

I stood there and watched for my husband to come my way so that he could get someone to help me get them down.
The lady got a ladder, and not very carefully started to hand them to me.
"Please Lord, please don't let them break" I prayed!!!

"Oh, aren't they cute" she says. "Yes, I thought so too" I answered. Carefully I cradled them next to my heart all the way to the front.
I paid for them and conquered the urge to holler
"START THE CAR!!!!!"

What a blessing to find!!

I couldn't wait for Pearls and Lace Thursday to share them with you.
(But be sure and come back and join me for this week's Pearls and Lace starting Wednesday evening. I'll have Mr. Linky ready!!!)
I decided that Monday Parties were the perfect chance.
Hope you all have a wonderful week, and please visit all of the parties listed below and check out all the lovely items that the participants are sharing!!
Make new friends, but keep the old
One is silver, and the other gold.
(can you tell I was a Brownie??)
Blessings!

Embroidered Basket of Roses

The time, the detail, the patience!!

The Roses piece made by my mother is my favorite. I know that she spent many hours, all very enjoyable to her, working on it.

But what am I going to do with it?? It's just one piece of large material with the embroidery on it. Should I make it the center of a quilt (like I can quilt or something)...or frame it?

I love all the pinks of the embroidery, the postcards, the doily and the phamplet. I thought they all went together well. Maybe I'll just have to leave the piece as part of the vignette!!

However I end up using it, it will be my alltime favorite piece that she made.
I'm joining up with How Sweet the Sound for Pink Saturday here:
